There’s something about summer: The earth seems more vibrant and renewed, and the frigid cold air is gone. Throw open the windows to welcome in the warmer air.
We beat the rugs outside to clean them, we wash the windows, and we scrub the floors. Time for a fresh, clean start.
Summer is the season that pushes us to look and feel our best. Graduations happen toward the start of the summer season, and it’s also the time of year when we celebrate dad.
Consequently, it’s a great season to invest in teeth whitening for your dad or grad. Let’s talk about some of the best ways in which you can have a bright white smile this summer and beyond.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
If your smile is lackluster, then you may consider having them professionally whitened. There are home-whitening kits on retail shelves, but it is safer and more long-lasting to have your teeth whitened in the dentist’s office or to use a professional take-home kit that is recommended by your dentist.
Professional Ways to Whiten Teeth
There are three procedures for whitening teeth and all are available treatments at Marion Smile Center.
Opalescence Go is ready to use immediately, straight from the box. These professional kits contain 10 trays that are filled with an active-ingredient gel. Each tray is one-size-fits-all and, for best results, is worn for 15 – 20 minutes a day for 5 to 10 days.
Opalescence PF is also a take-home treatment. This is very similar to Opalescence Go, but these trays is customized to fit your teeth and gums. The trays are worn for 30 minutes per day. They should be used every day for at least two weeks.
Opalescence Boost is applied In-Office by our trained hygienists in a 2 hour session. It is an excellent choice for anyone who wishes to see immediate results, like grads and dads whose pictures will provide cherished memories.
How Does Discoloration Happen to Teeth?
Stark-white isn’t a tooth’s natural color – what is natural is the near-white color of tooth enamel. When the protective enamel is compromised, it affects the tooth’s appearance – because where the enamel wears down, the yellowish dentin below becomes more visible.
Discoloration is also caused by the foods we eat, what we drink, and smoking. Coffee, tea, wine, and colored juices (like red or purple drinks) can leave stains on our teeth.
Additionally, age is a factor. It is natural for teeth to become more yellowed with age, so professional dental treatments can repair this issue.
