WE REACHED OUR $16K GOAL!!
The “Whitening for Charity” campaign was another huge success!
Between March 1st and June 30th, Marion Smile Center donated their skills to whiten teeth for charity – with 100% of the proceeds donated and split evenly between Harmony Fire District #22 and Smiles for Life. This was the 4th year that the team at Marion Smile Center has donated 100% of their service and proceeds to charity.
This year 90 smiling patients participated by getting their teeth whitened. The dental office raised over $16,500, with over $8,000 going to our local fire department, Harmony Fire District #22, and over $8,000 to the Smiles for Life Foundation. Smiles for Life supports children’s charities around the world, specifically helping underprivileged kids receive dental care.
Whitening for Charity Both Locally and Globally
The proceeds went to help our fire department purchase a Thermal Imaging Camera. This state-of-the-art camera permits firefighters to see through smoke, detect fire behind walls and above ceilings, and detect trapped people and pets. This technology helps to save lives of what might otherwise be victims of fire, as well as the firefighters themselves. It is a matter of modernizing the department with some truly life-saving equipment.
Marion Smile Center is grateful for the opportunity to give back to the local fire department particularly after they came out and found several inches of water in the lower level of our office and no power to the building. To the rescue was Harmony Fire District #22, who came to us and – within minutes – pumped out the stormwater. Dr. Marion was deeply moved by their help.
This year’s total brings them up to more than $55,000 worth of charitable funds raised in the past 4 years. The dental team raised almost $15,000 for the Zelienople Community Park in 2018, close to $14,000 for the Zelienople Community Pool in 2017, and more than $10,000 for the Zelienople Public Library in 2016.
In 2020, the practice will raise money for a humanitarian trip to Guatemala. The practice looks forward to partnering with the Zelienople community in their effort to helping our neighbors in Central America with their dental care needs.
