From the moment you walk in the door, there is an inviting, newly renovated play area for your kids. As pediatric dentists in Zelienople, we wanted to provide a safe place for our littlest patients to relax, read, play games, watch tv or simply play before or after their appointment or to keep them entertained during other family members’ appointments. Kids of all ages are loving the Pac-Man matching, iPads, action figure toys, and seeing other little patients’ pictures on our blackboard!
1st Pediatric Cleaning
At your child’s first cleaning appointment, we will be sure to make them as comfortable as possible. We know that visiting a pediatric dentist in Zelienople can be a new place for most children and the unknown can make them a little nervous. Feel free to bring a favorite stuffed animal or blankey to make them feel more at ease!
Our team is highly trained and does an excellent job of showing children all of the new, exciting things they will see during their visit. We have our stuffed animals that are great at helping break the ice because the kids get to show us what they know and how to brush their teeth! They will let them wear a pair of fun sunglasses to protect their eyes from the big light. We will show them how the chair moves like you’re on a ride! They will be shown and be able to use our air/water syringe and fill a cup with the “squirt gun” and then suck the water out with “Mr. Thirsty” our suction straw. They will also be able to pick their toothpaste and tooth vitamin flavor! We pride ourselves in pediatric patient care and explain and show everything before we actually do anything, which we’ve found has helped earn your child’s trust and minimize their anxiety.

“Happy Gas”
If your child experiences some anxiety at their dental visits, have comfort in knowing that we have a great option available to you and your child! “Happy or Laughing Gas” is a nitrous oxide that can be administered at any appointment for patients of all ages that doesn’t involve putting anyone to sleep. Nitrous Oxide has a mild sedative effect and is sometimes described as a warm, tingly feeling that can cause some patients to laugh. There is a mask that lays on your nose (doesn’t cover your mouth) that administers oxygen for a few minutes before dental treatment starts, then you breathe in nitrous oxide during the dental cleaning or procedure, then after the dental procedure, you are given oxygen for another 5 minutes before you remove the mask. After that, you are good to go!
