When you get teeth whitening at Marion Smile Center from March 1 – June 30, 100% of all proceeds will be donated to charity. You get a whiter, brighter smile while helping children everywhere – it’s a win-win!
It’s safe to say that Marion Smile Center’s 8th annual Whiten for Charity campaign has been yet another success! A huge thank you to our local specialists and Zelienople – Harmony community who donated $11,643 to whiten their teeth for charity in 2023. Every year from March – June, we choose a local beneficiary to donate a little over half of the proceeds, the remainder goes to help underprivileged children with dental needs. Since 2016, Dr. Marion and the Smile Center team have raised over $113,000 for charity!
What Charities Benefit?
Last year, Dr. Mark Marion pledged to donate $10,000 to the local Zelienople Area Public Library to assist in their 3,000-square-foot addition and renovation. In 2022, we donated $6,187 and this year, in 2023 we are donating the remaining $3,813 to reach our $10k donation goal to the library! This money will go towards funding for a new children’s wing addition. The proceeds will give children of all ages in our community a comfortable, fun space to read and learn.
Since we exceeded our $10k goal for the Zelienople Harmony Library, we reached out to another charity in our local community that is always in need of donations, the Zelienople Historical Society. We are so excited that we are giving them a check for $2,541 this year, as well! They have decided to use the donation to help paint and preserve a special, historical landmark in our local community – the Buhl House. Our team had the privilege to tour the 1808 Passavant and 1819 Buhl House this summer and learned about Zelienople’s remarkable history dating back to 1753! The Zelienople Historical Society focuses on preserving historical pieces of our town while partnering with local businesses and organizations to keep our beautiful town a homestead to live and raise families.
Every year, Marion Smile Center partners with a charity called Smiles for Life, which makes our annual Whitening for Charity campaign possible. They facilitate with Opalescence to provide free whitening solution and work with dental offices like ours that donate our time to whiten our community’s smiles. The remaining $5,339 gets donated to underprivileged children worldwide in need of dental treatment through the Smiles for Life Foundation.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Teeth whitening is a simple cosmetic procedure that removes stains and discoloration, making your teeth whiter and brighter. Teeth naturally become darker over time. Consuming dark staining substances like coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco can make the staining worse. Getting your teeth professionally cleaned every six (6) months helps to remove plaque, tartar, and surface stains. Do you still appear to have deep staining after a cleaning by a dental hygienist and would like your teeth to be a few shades brighter? Teeth whitening is one of the easiest, most economical, and least invasive ways to enhance your appearance.
A study showed that 76% of people based their first impression of somebody on their smile alone. Research shows society will perceive you as smarter, more successful, and romantically desirable if you have a beautiful smile. Overall, white, healthy teeth will make you feel more confident, which will allow you to smile more and make greater first impressions! This can reflect positive impacts in your personal life, along with your professional life as well.
Teeth Whitening Options
Marion Smile Center offers a few teeth whitening options to help fit different individuals’ needs and lifestyles.
- In-Office Whitening is by far our most popular teeth whitening option! This is ideal for someone who wants immediate results and wants a professional to take care of the work for them. All you have to do is sit back in the chair, relax, and listen to music or your favorite podcast for about 1.5 – 2 hours. When you walk out the door, your teeth will be noticeably whiter and will continue to whiten for the following 48 hours. In-Office Whitening includes: 2 hours of professional whitening treatment, custom whitening trays, and 4 syringes of whitening gel for touch-ups.
- Custom Whitening Trays are perfect for someone who wants the convenience of whitening teeth from home. When you visit our office, our team will take impressions of your teeth to fabricate whitening trays that are personalized to your teeth and gumlines. This not only helps the whitening solution flow into all of your teeth’s nooks and crannies to allow you to get the best whitening results possible, but it also keeps the solution off of your gums to prohibit any burning. The professional whitening gel we offer is worn for 30 minutes while you continue your daily tasks around your home. Whitening every day or every other day for about 8-12 sessions is recommended. Once you reach your teeth’s whitest potential, then you use the trays for touch-ups once a month or so, or whenever your teeth need a little brightening. Custom Whitening includes: upper and lower trays custom to your teeth and gums along with 8 syringes of whitening gel.
- Opalescence Go is ideal for teens with growing mouths, braces, or someone who wants the convenience of not having to fill their trays. Once you place the trays on your teeth, you only have to wear them for 15-20 minutes a day. Opalescence Go includes: 10 upper and 10 lower pre-filled disposable whitening trays. How to Keep Teeth White
- Have teeth cleaned professionally by your dental hygienist at least every 6 months.
- Brush 3 times per day, floss 1 time per day (preferably at bedtime), and clean tongue 1 time per day.
- Limit or avoid dark staining substances such as coffee, tea, tobacco products, cola, red wine, berry pie, or red sauces.
- Use a straw to limit exposure to the teeth if consuming a beverage listed above.
